Douglas P. Sluiter
Douglas Sluiter is President of Sluiter, Inc., a construction management and consulting firm specializing in owner’s representation for churches, educational facilities and non-profit organizations. His career began in the 1970’s at his family’s commercial construction company. Over the years, he gained construction design expertise at an architectural firm and eventually launched his own construction management business.
With more than 30 years of experience, Doug has provided the skilled and effective construction management needed to guide institutional clients through the myriad of complex construction development processes. As the owner’s representative on projects from $10 million to $100 million, Doug has efficiently guided major projects such as Resurrection Life Church, Grandville, Michigan, Gateway Church, with its multiple facilities located throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area, Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan, and many others throughout the United States.
Doug’s leadership, attention to detail and focused negotiation skills has resulted in the successful completion of complicated projects on time and solidly within budget…sometimes by millions of dollars.
Doug is married with two children and eight grandchildren and lives in Dallas, Texas.
“Doug brought these projects to completion on budget and on time. He also, led projects on three other campuses with similar success.”
“In addition to the construction expertise he brought to each of the projects he became our representative with the respective cities associated with the projects.”
“Doug’s love for God and commitment to further His Kingdom work is evident in the way he leads each project, interacts with “subs” on the project, as well as represents our interests as the project owner.”
“I highly recommend him to you for consideration as a member of your team. I know you will be pleased with the result of what will be produced just as we are with each of our projects!”
“Doug is what we like to see in an Owners Rep role. He is tough, but fair. He never tries to take advantage of the architect or contractor, but yet he knows what is possible from each, and he insists on getting what the Owner deserves.”
“Most important to me, though, is that I know I can trust Doug. I may not always like his decisions, but I know his integrity, and I know he never does anything to me to be punitive or to take advantage. And I know this integrity extends to his Owners just as much. If Doug tells you something, you can take it to the bank. It has or will happen exactly as he tells you.”
